Addition of `Hgl_(2)` to the aqueous solution of `Kl` shows an icrease in the osmotic pressure, why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`Hgl_(2)` forms a complex with `(Kl)`, and therefore , the number of particles in solution increases.
`HgI_(2)+2KI rarr K_(2)[HgI_(4)]hArr 2K^(o+)+[HgI_(4)]^(2-)`
Therefore, the osmotic pressure increases.
