What is the speed of train A?
Statements: I. It crosses a pole in 25 seconds.
II. The train is 200 m long.

A

if only statement I is sufficient to answer the question but statement II is not,

B

If only statement II is sufficient to answer the question but statement I is not,

C

if both statements I and II are together sufficient to answer the questions although neither statement suffices by itself,

D

The correct Answer is:
C

From the two statements together, we can find that the answer to the question is 200 + 5 = 40 m per second. We can safely assume that a pole has no length and, hence, in passing a pole a train only covers a distance which is equal to its own length.
