Give a brief account of Dinoflagellates.

Explanation

1) Dinoflagellates are marine. They appear as yellow, green, brown, blue or red depending upon the pigments present in the cells:
2) Cell wall is made up of cellulose plates.
3) Two flagella are prescent. One lies longitudinally and the other lies transversely in the furrow between the wall plates.
4) Flagella produce spinning movements. So these are called whirling whips.
5) Nucleus, is called Mesokaryon as chromosomes..are - condensed without histones.
6) Example : Nostoc shows bioluminescence:
Gonyaulax make the sea appear red.
