Why does bread mould grow profusely on a moist slice of bread rather than on a dry slice of bread?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Moisture is an important factor for the growth of hyphae. Moistened bread slice provides both moisture and nutrients to the bread mould, therefore it grows generously. Dry slice of bread provides nutrients but not moisture therefore hyphae fail to grow.
