Top to bottom metallic character increases Reason : Size of atom increases/tendency to loose electron increases

As we move down in a group, the metallic character increases as the size of an atom increases and thus, the force of attraction between valence electrons and nucleus is very less. So, the element can easily loose electrons resulting in increase in metallic character.
