What role does adsorption play in heterogeneous catalysis?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In heterogeneous catalysis catalysis , the molecules of the reactants are adsorbed on the surface of catalyst. The increased concentration, of the reactants on the surface influences the rate of reaction . Adsorption being an exothermic process , the heat of adsorption is take by the reactant molecule to increase their chemical activity .
