A car is moving in a circular path with ...

A car is moving in a circular path with a uniform speed v. Find the magnitude of change in its velocity when the car rotates through an angle `theta`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Change in velocity `vec(Deltav)= vec v= vec v- vec u`
The magnitude of change in velocity
`Delta v= sqrt(v^(2)+u^(2)-2 uv cos theta)`
As the speed is uniform `=|vecv|=|vecu|=v`
`:. Deltav=2v sin ((theta)/(2))`
