A concave mirror having a radius of curvature 40 cm is placed in front of an illuminated point source at a distance of 30 cm from it. Find the location of the image.

The correct Answer is:

`u=-30 cm, R=-40 cm
From the mirror equation
`1/v+1/u=2/R`
`rarr 1/v=2/R-1/u`
`=2/(-40)-1/(-30)=1/(-20)1/30`
`=(-30+20)/(30xx20)=(-10)/(30x20)`
`=-1/60`
or v=-60cm ltbr. So, the image will be formed is distane of 60 cm in front of the mirror
