A current of `30 A` is registered when the terminals of a dry cell of `emf 1.5 Volts` are connected through an ammeter. Neglecting the meter resistance, find the amount of heat produced in the battery in 10 seconds.

The current in the circuit will be
`I = epsilon/r`
or, `30A = (1.5V)/r` giving `r = 0.05 Omega`.
The amount of heat produced in the battery `i^2 rt = (30A)^2 xx (0.5 Omega) xx 10s = 450 J`.
