Protons having kinetic energy K emerge from an accelerator as a narrow beam. The beam is bent by a perpendicular magnetic field so that it just misses a plane target kept at a distance I in front of the accelerator. Find the magnetic field.

Redius `= 1 KE = K`
since `l = mu/qB `
`rArr l = (sqrt 2km)/ (qB)`
` `B = (sqrt 2Km ) /(ql) `

A proton is moving perpendicular to a uniform magnetic field of 2.5 tesla with 2MeV kinetic energy. The force on the proton is ______ .

A short bar magnet with magnetic dipole moment 1.6 "Am"^(2) is kept in magnetic meridian in such a way that its north pole is in north direction. In this case, the null (neutral) point is found at a distance of 20 cm from the centre of the magnet. Find the horizontal component of the Earth's magnetic field.

Two small and similar bar magnets have magnetic dipole moment of 1.0 Am^(2) each. They are kept in a plane in such a way that their axes are perpendicular to each other. A line drawn through the axis of one magnet passes through the centre of other magnet. If the distance between their centers is 2 m, find the magnetic field at the mid point of the line joining their centers.

A short bar magnet placed in a horizontal plane has its axis aligned along the magnetic north-south direction. Null points are found on the axis of the magnet at 14 cm from the centre of the magnet. The earth's magnetic Meld at the place is 0.36 G and the angle of dip 18 zero. What is the total magnetic feld on the normal bisector of the magnet at the same distance as the mull-point (i.e., 14 cm) from the centre of the magnet? At rull points, field due to a magnet 1s equal and opposite to the horizontal component of earth's magnetic field.)

A proton and a deuteron having the same kinetic energies enter a region of uniform magnetic field perpendicularly, Deuteron's mass is twice that of proton. Calculate the ratio of the radii of their circular paths.

Two protons are having same kinetic energy. One proton enters a uniform magnetic field at right angles ot it. Second proton enters a uniform electric field in the direction of field. After some time their de Broglie wavelengths are lambda_1 and lambda_2 then (a) lambda_1 = lambda_2 (b) lambda_1 lt lambda_2 (c) lambda_1 gt lambda_2 (d) some more information is required

A circular coil having N turns is made from a wire L meter long. If a current of I ampere is passed through this coil suspended in a uniform magnetic field of B tesla, find the maximum torque that can act on this coil.

A magnetic field set up using Helmholtz coils (described in Exercise 4.16) is uniform in a small region and has a magnitude of 0.75 T. In the same region, a uniform electrostatic field is maintained in a direction normal to the common axis of the coils. A narrow beam of (single species) charged particles all accelerated through 15 kV enters this region in a direction perpendicular to both the axis of the coils and the electrostatic field. If the beam remains undeflected when the electrostatic field is 9.0xx10^(-5)Vm^(-1) , make a simple guess as to what the beam contains. Why is the answer not unique ?

Imagine that you are sitting in a chamber with you back to one wall. An electron beam , moving horizontlly from back wall towards the front wall , is deflected by a stong magnetic field to your right side. What is the direction of magnetic field ?
