A bar magnet made of steel has a magnetic moment of `2.5 A m^2` and amass of `6.6 xx 10^(-3) kg`. If the density of steel is `7.9 xx 10^3 kg m^(-3)`, find the intensity of magnetization of the magnet.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`V = (mass)/(density) = (6.6 xx 10^(-3) kg)/(7.9 xx 10^3 kg m^(-3)`
`= 8.3 xx 10^(-7) m^3`.
The intensity of magnetization is
`I = M/V = (2.5 A m^2)/(8.3 xx 10^(-7) m^3) = 3.0 xx 10^6 A m^(-1)`
