Find the per cent increase in the magnet...

Find the per cent increase in the magnetic field `B` when the space within a current- carrying toroid is filled with aluminiu. The susceptibility of aluminium is `2.1 xx 10^(-5)`.

A

`0.021 `

B

`0.00021`

C

`0.0021`

D

`2.1`

The correct Answer is:
C

In absence of aluminium, the magnetic field is `B_0 = mu_0 H`.
As the space inside the toroid is filled with aluminium, the field becomes
B=muH = mu_o (1+chiH`.
The per cent increase is
`(B-B_0)/(B_0) xx 100 = (mu_0 chiH)/(mu_0 H) xx 100`
`= chi xx 100`
`= 2.1 xx 10^(-3)`.
