Find the maximum frequency, the X-ray emitted by an X-ray tube operating at `30 kV`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For maximum frequency, the total kinetic energy `(eV)` should be converted into a X-ray photon. Thus
`hv = eV`
or, `v = e/h V`
or , `= (e xx 30 xx 10^3 V)/(4.14 xx 10^(-15) eV-s)`
`= 30/(4.14) xx 10^(18) Hz = 7.2 xx 10^(18) Hz`

In an X-rays tube, electrons striking a target are brought to rest, causing X-rays to be emitted. In a paricular X-ray tube, the maximum frequency of the emitted continuum X-ray spectrum is f_(o) . If the votage across the tube is doubled, the maximum frequency is

Find the (a) maximum frequency, and (b) minimum wavelength of X-rays produced by 30 kv electrons.

Find the (a)Maximm frequency, and (b)Minimum wavelength of X-rays produced by 30 kV electrons.

Statement-1 If the accelerating potential in an X-ray tube is increased, the wavelength of the characterstic X-rays do not change. because Statement-2 When an electron beam strikes the target in an X-ray tube, part of the kinetic energy is converted into X-ray energy.

Assertion : Soft and hard X -rays differ in frequency as well as velocity. Reason : The penetrating power of hard X - rays is more than the penetrating power of soft X -rays.

A heated body maitained at T K emits thermal radiation of total energy E with a maximum intensity at frequency v. The emissivity of the material is 0.5. If the temperature of the body be increased and maintained at temperature 3T K, then :- (i) The maximum intensity of the emitted radiation will occur at frequency v/3 (ii) The maximum intensity of the emitted radiation will occur at frequency 3v. (iii) The total energy of emitted radiation will become 81 E (iv) The total energy of emitted radiation will become 27 E

On operating an X-ray tube at 1 kV. X-rays of minimum wavelength 6.22Å are produced. If the tube is operated at 10 kV , then the minimum wavelength of X -rays produced will be
