If a person goes to a height equal to radius of Earth from its surface. What would be its weight relative to that on the Earth.

A

`1/2`

B

`1/3`

C

`1/4`

D

`1/5`

The correct Answer is:
C

At the surface of the earth, the weight of the person.
`W=mgimplies(mGM)/(R^(2))`
At a height h
weight `W.=mg.implies(mGM)/((R+h)^(2))`
`:.(W.)/W=(R^(2))/((R+h)^(2))`
When `h=R,(W.)/W=(R^(2))/(2R)^(2))=1/4`
So weight becomes one forth.
