Of the following terms used for denoting concentration of a solution, the one which does not get affected by temperature is

A

Molarity

B

Normality

C

Molality

D

Formality

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Molality is the total number of moles of a solute contained in a kilogram or 1000g of a solvent. It is given by the formula:
Molality (m) = moles of solute / kilograms of solvent
It is not affected by temperature because both the numerator and denominator in its formula contains mass terms only which is not affected by temperature whereas molarity, normality and formality contains volume terms which is affected by temperature.
