A small dipole is fixed at the origin with its moment pointing in the +X direction. Consider two identical circular disc shaped imaginary surfaces with their centres at two points A and B on the X-axis equidistant from the origin shown in the figure. The surfaces are perpendicular to the X axis. The electric flux through the surfaces is `phi_A` and `phi_B` respectively. The sign of flux is taken as positive if it crosses a surface towards the +X direction and taken as negative if it crosses a surface towards the -X direction.
