ABCD is a rectangle. When the length and breadth of the rectangle are increased, the rectangle gets enlarged to LNCM. If the length of rectangle ABCD is thrice its breadth, then find the
(a) sum of perimeter of rectangle ABCD and SNBA.
(b) area of rectangle LNCM.

A

`{:(a,b),(225 cm, 840 cm^2)`

B

`{:(a,b),(220 cm, 1000 cm^2)`

C

`{:(a,b),(220 cm, 900 cm^2)`

D

`{:(a,b),(235 cm, 750cm^2)`

The correct Answer is:
B

(a) Breadth (BC) of ABCD = `45/3 = 15 cm `
Perimeter of `ABCD = 2(45 + 15) = 2 xx 60 = 120 `cm
Perimeter of SNBA = `2(5 +45) = 2 xx 50 = 100 `cm
`therefore` Sum of perimeter of rectangle ABCD and SNBA
`= 120 + 100 = 220 cm `
(b) `LN = SN + LS = 45 + 5 = 50 cm `
`NC = BC + NB = 15 + 5 = 20 cm `
`therefore` Area of rectangle `LNCM = 50 xx 20 = 1000 cm^2`
