Kwashiorkor is a deficiency disease caused by deficiency of protein in the diet. The child suffering from this disease becomes thin and weak. Patches develop on skin, there is stunted growth and irritability. Other symptoms of the disease include large pot like belly, swelling of feet and ankle due to oedema, diarrhoea, etc.
