An electrical appliance is rated at 1000 KVA, 220 V. If the appliance is operated for 2 hours, calculate the energy consumed by the appliance in :
kWh

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, `P = 1000 kVA = kW, t = 2h`
(i)Energy consumed in kWh is
`E = P xx t = 1000 xx 2 = 2000 k Wh`
(ii) Engergy consumed in joule is
`E = 2000 xx 3.6 xx 1 0^(6) J = 7.2 xx 10 ^(9) J, [ therefore kWh = 3.6 xx 10 ^(6)]`
