Which colour of light has a higher critical angle? Red light or Green light.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Since the velocity of light for red is more than green , so , refractive index of red will be smaller (as `mu prop (1)/(v)).`
Again critical angle for green will be smaller than red because sin `i_(c) = (1)/(mu).`
i.e. `mu _(r) lt mu_(g) implies ( i _(c)) gt ( i _(c)) _(g)`
Hence, crtical angle for red light will be greater than green light.
