Thefigureshowstransversesectionofsclerenchyma tissue. It is a simple supportive tissue of highly thick-walleo cells with little or no cytoplasm. The thickening of Cell walls may be due to deposition of lignin or both lignin and cellulose. The adjacent cells possess simple oblique pits.
