Two identical conducting spheres 1 and 2...

Two identical conducting spheres 1 and 2 carry equal amounts of charge and are fixed apart at a certain distance larger than their diameters. The spheres repel each other with an electrical force of 88mN. A third identical sphere 3, having an insulating handle and initially uncharged, is touched first to sphere 1 and then to sphere 2 and finally removed. Find the force between spheres 1 and 2 as shown if Figure.
,

A

`F/2`

B

`F/4`

C

`(3F)/4`

D

`(3F)/8`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

`F=(KQ^2)/r^2`
Now, `q_C =q_A = (3Q)/4`
`F.= (K(Q/2)((3Q)/4))/r^2 implies F. =3/8 F`

Two identical conducting spheres A and B, carry equal charge. They are separated by a distance much larger than their diameters, and the force between them is F. A third identical conducting spheres, C,is uncharged. Sphere C is first touched to A, then to B, and then removed. As a result, the force between A and B would be equal to :

If two identical spheres having charge 16muC and -8mu C are kept at certain distance apart, then the force is F. They are touched and again kept at the same distance, the force becomes

Two similarly and equally charged identical metal spheres A and B repel each other with a force of 2xx10^(-5)N . A third identical unchared sphere C is touched with A and then placed at the midpoint between A and B. Find the net electric force on C.

Two indentical metallic spheres A and B, each carrying a charge q repel each other with a force F. A third metallic uncharged sphere C of the same size is made to touch the spheres A and B alternately and then removed away. What is the force of repulsion between A and B ?

There are two charged identical metal spheres A and B repel each other with a force 3xx10^(-5)N . Another identical uncharged sphere C is touched with A and then placed at the mid-point between A and B. Net force on C is

Two identical conducting spheres, fixed in space, attract each other with an electrostatic force of 0.108 N when separated by 50.0 cm , centre-to-centre. A thin conducting wire then connects the spheres. When the wire is removed, the spheres repel each other with an electrostatic force of 0.0360 N . What were the initial charges on the spheres?
