Assertion: Transverse waves are not prod...

Assertion: Transverse waves are not produced in liquids and gases.
Reason: Light waves are transverse waves.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If the assertion and reason both are false.

The correct Answer is:
B

Transverse waves travel in the form of crests and troughs involving change in shape of the medium. As liquids and gases do not posses the rigidity therefore, transverse waves cannot be produced in liquid and gases. Also light wave is one example of transverse wave.
