Assertion: The time period of geostationary satellite is `24` hrs.
Reason: Geostationary satellite must have the same time period as the time taken by the earth to complete on revolution about its axis.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If the assertion and reason both are false

The correct Answer is:
B

As the geostationary satellite is established in an orbit in the plane of the equator at a particular place, so it move in the same sense as the earth and hence its time period of revolution is equal to 24 hours, which is equal to time period of revolution of earth about its axis.
