Assertion : An electric bulb is first ...

Assertion : An electric bulb is first connected to a dc source and then to a ac source having the same brightness in both the cases.
Reason : The peak value of voltage for an A.C. source is `sqrt(2)` times the root mean square voltage.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false

D

If assertion is false but reason is true

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Voltage of dc source is constant but in ac, peak value of voltage is `sqrt(2)` times the rms voltage. Hence bulb will glow with more brightness when connected to an ac source of the same voltage.
