Maximum number of hydrogen bonding in H(...

Maximum number of hydrogen bonding in `H_(2)O` is

A

1

B

2

C

3

D

4

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Theoretically, 4 hydrogen bonds are possible for one `H_2O` molecule. But the hydrogen bonds constantly break and form, practically only 3.14 hydrogen bonds are formed by one water molecule with other water molecules. Hence they are also called Flickering clusters.
