The most efficient method of extraction of beryllium is

A

Dissociation of beryllium carbide

B

Electrolysis of fused beryllium chloride

C

Reduction of beryllium oxide with carbon

D

Reduction of beryllium halide with magnesium

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Be is a very reactive metal hence it is most commonly found in minerals mixed with other elements. `BeCl_(2)` is found to be very less reactive and hence it does not react with water. `BeCl_(2)` gets electrolysed and beryllium is extracted.
