Ni it is separated by Mond’s process. This process has 3 steps
(i) Nickel oxide reacts with syn gas at `200^(@)` C to give nickel, together with impurities including iron and cobalt.
`NiO(s) + H_(2)(g) rarr Ni(s) + H_(2) O(g)`.
(ii) The pure nickel reacts with CO at `50-60^@` C to form the VOLATILE `Ni(Co)_4`. leaving impurities as solids.
`Ni(s) + 4CO(g) rarr Ni (CO)_4(g)`
(iii) The mixture of nickel carbonyl and syn gas is heated to 200 – `250^@` C, resulting in decomposition back to nickel and carbon monoxide
