First sucrose will dehydrate :
`C_(12) H_(22) O_(11) overset("conc. " H_2 SO_4)to 12C + 11 H_2 O`
Since concentrated sulphuric acid is also a strong oxidizing agent the carbon will oxidize to `CO_2 `.
`C + 2H_2 SO_4 to CO_2 to 2SO_2 + 2H_2 O`
