Contractile vacuole: To get rid of excess water some organisms have special types of the vacuole that appear and disappear at intervals called contractile vacuole.
Gas vacuole: A gas vacuole is a group of submicroscopic vesicles each having a protein membrane around it. The vesicles contain metabolic gases. The gas vacuoles stores gases and regulate buoyancy of the cell, provide mechanical support and protect from harmful radiation.
