Amphibia is cold blooded or ectothermal animal as its body temperature does not remain constant but fluctuates with that of environment. Thus it is called poikilothermal animal. In winter the temperature of the body activities ceases down. It can not live more on the land, so it takes winter sleep or hibernation in underground. Similarly during the summer all body activities are slowed down due to high temperature. This is known as summer sleep.
