The principal mineralocorticoid is aldosterone. It is also called salt–retaining hormone. It promotes reabsorption of `Na^(+)` and `Cl^(-)` from kidney. It also reabsorbs `H_2O` from kidney and secretes potassium ions in urine. The rennin Angiotensinogen aldosterone or RAA pathway control the secretion of Aldosterone.
