Find the sum to infinity of the following Geometric Progression:`(-3)/4,3/(16),(-3)/(64),...`

A

`-3/5`

B

`-2/5`

C

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Given series is in G.P.
Let `a` = first term and `r` = common ratio
Here, `a=-3/4` and `r=-1/4`
`therefore S=a/(1−r)=(-3/4)/(1+1/4)=(-3/4)/(5/4) = -3/5`.
Thus, the sum of given series is `-3/5`.
