Reduce the equation sqrt(3)x+y-8=0 into ...

Reduce the equation `sqrt(3)x+y-8=0` into normal form. Find the values of p and `omega`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given equation is `sqrt3+y-8 = 0`
Here, `a = sqrt3, b = 1`
`:. sqrt(a^2+b^2) = sqrt(3+1) = 2`
Dividing given equation by `2`,
`sqrt3/2x+1/2y -4 = 0`
`sqrt3/2x+1/2y = 4`
Comparing this equation with , `xcostheta+ysintheta = p`
`costheta = sqrt3/2, sintheta = 1/2 and p = 4`
