In an intrinsic (pure) semiconductor, the number of conduction electrons is `7xx10^(19)` per cubic meter. Find the total number of current carriers (electrons & holes ) in a same semiconductor of size 1 cm x 1 cm x 1mm.

In intrinsic semiconductor `n_e=n_(h)`
Given , `n_(e) =7xx10^(19)` per `m^(3)`
`:. n_(h) = n_(e) = 7xx10^(19) m^(3)`
So, total current carrier density `=n_(e) + n_(h)=7xx10^(19) =14xx10^(19) ` per `m^(3)`
Now, total number of current carriers =Number density x volume
`=(14xx10^(19) per m^(3))xx(10^(-2)m xx10^(-2) m xx10^(-3)m)`
`=14xx10^(12)`
