Chemically bacterial cell wall consists of acetylglucosamine, acetylglucosamine, acetyl muramic acid and a peptide chain of four or five amino acids. All these chemicals form a polymer called peptidoglycan or murein. Other chemicals, which are present on the cell wall of bacteria are techoic acid, protein, polysaccharides, lipoproteins and lipopolysaccharides.
