Three types of cells are present in areolar tissue (connective tissue) namely fibroblasts, mast cells, macrophages. Areolar tissue consists of two types of fibres, i.e. yellow elastin fibres and white collagen fibres.
White collagen fibres are found at the site of injury during tissue repair and wound healing process. These fibres are composed of collagen protein.
