In the middle of each segment of earthworm, there is a ring tiny curved bristles called setae or chaetae. This is formed of horny nitrogenous organic substance known as chitin. Setae are 80 th - 120 th in each segment except in peristomium, pygidium and the clitellum. These help in locomotion in association with musculature of body wall.
