The process which makes major difference between `C_(3)` and `C_(4)` plants is

A

glycolysis

B

Calvin cycle

C

photorespiration

D

respiration

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Photorespiration is the process, which makes a difference between the `C_3 and C_1`-plants . In the process, there is a continuous loss of carbon fixed in the form of `CO_2`. It occurs due to the high `O_2` content. High temperature conditions in which RuBP carboxylase starts working as RuBP oxygenase which RuBP carboxylase starts working as RuBP oxygenase and normal photosynthesis does not occur.
