In C3 -plants the first stable compound ...

In `C_3` -plants the first stable compound formed after `CO_2` fixation is

A

oxaloacetic acid

B

malic acid

C

phosphoglyceraldehyde

D

3- phosphoglycerate

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The plants fix atomsphere `CO_2` by a biosynthetic pathway called `C_3` cycle. In this , `CO_2` combines with RuBP (5C) to form 2 molecules of 3 carbon compound 3 phosphoglyceric acid (3PGA) or 3 phosphoglyceric . This reaction is catalysed by RUBP carboxylase enzyme.
