ATP synthesis in cell requires

A

`H^(+)` gradient across the membrane

B

`K^(+)` gradient across the membrane

C

`PO_(4)^(3-)` gradient across the membrane

D

`Ca^(2+)` gradient across the membrane

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

ATP synthesis takes place by the process of chemiosmosis, where ATP is genterated via pronon `(H^(+))` gradient across the membrane. As proton moves from inside to outside across a membrane some configuration change occurs in the ATPase which start catalysing formation of ATP.
