Maximum reparative regeneration is found in the liver of mammals. If a part of liver is surgically removed, then the cells of the remaining part undergo repeated mitotic divisions and original volume of the liver is maintained.
Similarly, if one kidney of man is lost, the other kidney enlarges to take over the function of the missing kidney and is called compensatory regeneration. It is not found in brain.
