B

Both Assertion and Reason are true and the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion

C

D

The correct Answer is:
B

In prokaryotes, a single mRNA molecule may code for one or several polypeptide chains . If it carries the code for only polypeptide the mRNA is monocistronic and if it codes for two or more different polypeptides the mRNA is polycistronic in eukaryotes most mRNAs are monocistronic Termination codons like UAA, UGA, UAG etc. are present on mRNA and capable to release the polypeptide chain

Assertion. A single mRNA strand is capable of forming a number of different polypeptide chains. Reason. The mRNA strand has terminator codons.

Assertion : A monocistronic mRNA can produce several types of polypepitude chains . Reason : The terminator codon is present on the mRNA.

Compare the statements A and B Statement A : A monocistronic mRNA can produce several types of polypeptide chains. Statement B: The terminator codon is present on the mRNA. Select the correct description:

Assertion Non-sense codons are responsible for terminating peptide chain Reason Non-sense codons are not recognised by tRNA

Assertion : All immunoglobulin molecules have a basic structure compsed of four polypeptide chains. Reason : The polypeptide chains consists two identical heavy and light chain connected by disulphide bonds.

Assertion A non-overlapping code means that a base in mRNA is not used for different codons Reason In translating mRNA molecules, the codons do not overlap but are read sequentially

Synthesis of polypetide terminates when a nonsense codon of mRNA reaches

Assertion : Polycistronic mRNA, found in prokaryotes, specify a number of polypeptides. Reason : Monocistronic mRNA, found in eukaryotes, specify only a single polypeptide.

Assertion. The prokaryotic mRNA is polycistronic and specifies more than one polypeptide. Reason. Polycistronic mRNA is transcribed from more than one gene.
