Alcohol 'B' on oxidation with NaOCl followed by acidification gives acetic acid. Deduce structure of A and B. Show the reactions involved.

Esters on treatment with methyl magnesium chloride will give either secondary alcohol or tertiary alcohol. As `3^(@)` alcohols are not easily oxidised hence it must be a secondary alcohol and eser must be an alkyl formate. The various reactions involved are
