Find the equation of the parabola that s...

Find the equation of the parabola that satisfies the given conditions:Vertex (0,0) passing through (2,3) arid axis is along x–axis.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As given parabola is passing through `(2,3)`, standard equation of a parabola is,
`y^2 = 4ax->(1)`
As, this parabola is passing through `(2,3)`.
`:. (3)^2 = 4(a)(2)=> a = 9/8`
So, equation of parabola will be,
`y^2 = 4(9/8)x=> 2y^2 = 9x`, which is our required equation.
