Find the equation for the ellipse that s...

Find the equation for the ellipse that satisfies the given conditions:Ends of major axis `(+-3,0)`, ends of minor axis `(0,+-2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We can create a diagram of the given ellipse.
Please refer to video for the diagram.
Ends of major-axis ` = (+-3,0)`
Ends of minor axis ` = (0,+-2)`
So, `a = 3` and `b = 2`
Thus, equation of the ellipse will be,
`x^2/3^2+y^2/2^2 = 1`
`x^2/9+y^2/4 = 1`
