Find the equation for the ellipse that satisfies the given conditions:Vertices `(+-6,0)`, foci `(+-4,0)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equation of ellipse can be given as
`x^2/a^2+y^2/b^2 = 1`
Here, Foci of ellipse ` = (+-4,0)`
So, `X`-axis is major axis and `c = 4`
Vertices of ellipse `= (+-6,0)`
`:.a = 6=>a^2 = 36`
`:. b^2 = a^2-c^2 = 36-16 = 20`
