Find the equation for the ellipse that satisfies the given conditions:Foci `(+-3,0),a=4`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equation of ellipse can be given as
`x^2/a^2+y^2/b^2 = 1`
Here, Foci of ellipse ` = (+-3,0)`
So, `X`-axis is major axis and `c = 3`.
`a = 4=>a^2 = 16`
`:. b^2 = a^2-c^2 = 16-9 = 7`
So, equation of required ellipse will be,
