a. At any depth 1, let the ropes make an angle theta with the vertical.
From the free body diagam
`F cos theta +Fcos theta -mg=0`
` rarr 2 F cos theta =mg`
`rarr F= mg/ (2 cos theta)`
s the man moves up, theta increases, i.e. `cos theta ` decreases. thus F increases
b. When the man is at depth "h"

`=mg/(4h) sqrt(d^2+4h^2)`.
