The correct Answer is:
A

Given `m= 15 kg`
` a= 1 m/s^2`
from free body diagram
(
`T-[15g+15(1)]=0`
`rarr T= 5(10+1)`
`rarr T= 15xx11=165N`
The monkey should apply 165 N force to the rope.
Initial velocity `u=0`
Acceleration, `a=1 m/s^2`
`S=5m`
From `S= ut+ 1/2 at^2`
` 5=0+(1/2)xx1xxt^2`
`rarr t^2 = 5xx2`
`rarr t= sqrt(10) sec`
Hence time required is `sqrt(10)` sec.

A monkey a mass 15 kg is climbing on a rope with one end fixed to the ceiling. If it whishes to go up with an acceleration of 1 m/s^2 , how much force should it apply to the rope? If the rope is 5 m long and the monkey starts from rest, how much time will it take to reach the ceiling?

  • A monkey is a reston a weightless rope which goes over a pulley and is tied to a bunch of bananas at the other end. The weight of the bunch of bananas isexactly the same as that of the monkey. The pulley is frictionless and weightless. The monkey starts to climb up the rope to reach the bananas. As he climbs, the distance between him and the bananas will

    A
    decrease
    B
    increase
    C
    first decrease and then increase
    D
    remain unchanged.
  • As shown in figure a monkey of 20g mass is holding a light rope that passes over a frictionless pulley. A bunch of bananas of the same mass is tied to the other end of rope. Inorder to get access to the bunch the monkey starts climbing the rope. The distance between the monkey and the bananas is

    A
    Decreasing
    B
    Increasing
    C
    Unchanged
    D
    Nothing can be stated
  • A monkey weighing 10 kg climbing up a light rope and frictionless pulley attached to 15 kg mass at other end as in figure. In order to raise the 15 kg mass off the ground the monkey must climb-up

    A
    with constant acceleration g/3.
    B
with an acceleration greater than g/2.
    C
with an acceleration greater than g/4.
    D
It is not possible because weight of monkey is lesser than the block.
